@Spinal1865 started a thread about having index notes in Obsidian, but automatically generating the index. I’ve been using a similar way, and it prompted me to create a small “template” for Obsidian on Github.
It looks like this:
- You can create notes for areas and categories, which I’ve found useful to describe what belongs there and what doesn’t.
- If you hover, you get a preview of the index note.
- ID notes will automatically list notes/files in the corresponding folder.
- There are some templates available for creating the index notes.
If someone is interested in this idea, maybe you’ll find @Spinal1865 and/or my approach helpful.
As a side note; I tried to used Breadcrumbs to do this as well. It didn’t work because ordering was broken, but I think this will be fixed in the next version. (Still in beta) It might be a more lightweight alternative for those interested.
(If this doesn’t belong in this forum area, please feel free to delete it. I just thought it might be relevant here.)
