Why isn’t the title part of the ID?
It makes sense to me to keep the title as part of the ID.
So, 12.10 Description
Becomes, 12.10.Descrption

I think it doesn’t really matter…
The numbers define a ‘space’ for you to fill. Once you put a title at a given location i.e. ID, that title won’t be changing anymore, so it basically is part of the ID.
I always think of the IDs as simply a template to help put things in their proper place, i.e. in the right category and not creating duplicates. The titles are what really matters, but the numerical IDs according to the JD system are for keeping things organized.
From a think-of-it-like-a-database perspective, the ID and the title are two distinct fields.
The ID is related to the thing’s position in your system. 12.34 can easily be parsed as a child of 12, say. And it never changes. It’s the UID of the item.
The title, however, is just some words. It’ll never be parsed. It can change. So, no: they’re each their own thing.
When I first started building my system, I thought of the ID as a timestamp with a predetermined sorting; the numbers don’t generally decrease in your creation of IDs, just as time doesn’t stop moving forward since I’ve adopted that the best form of ID includes a timestamp not strictly for identification but filtering and searching like an inline tag in the title itself.
