Pre Purchase Questions (Workshop feedback requested)

Hi, I’m new to JD having discovered it a few days ago when checking out a video on Alfred by @TheProductivityShop. I was amazed at how he was able to demonstrate how he organised and searched files. That led me to the JD website, and I loved how it was laid out. The structure is fantastic.

I have been looking for better ways to organise my digital life in particular. I’ve struggled with organisation for years. But the very fact that I have struggled with organisation and structure in the past makes me fear that I am likely to fail in such a structured approach, and wonder how others have coped with this.

I am a very visual learner and in particular love video content, which makes me lean towards the JD University, but the cost is a little prohibitive (that’s not me complaining about its value, just my ability to fund it). So I wondered if others can give any feedback on how useful they have found the workshop.

Alternatively, how have other found going it alone with the basic concepts outlined so well by JD.

For context, I have just retired so don’t have a work life to control, but of course have lots of other “stuff” going on. One area I want to improve is a hobby area around Genealogy, which is why I feel I may need the do-it-yourself approach.

Like many others who gravitate to such a system, I am from an IT background and enjoy learning new tools etc. I’m also an Obsidian user and expect that this is where I would build my Index.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

G’day Keith. Just wanted to say hi, but I’ll leave others to (hopefully!) speak to the value they got from the workshop.

Edit: I added the (Workshop feedback requested) to your title in case casual browsers thought this was a question specifically to me.

Thanks, Johnny, that makes sense. I probably should have been clearer. I’m sure others will have good things to say. I like what I’ve seen so far, and as a Middlesbrough lad, find your Sunderland accent (yep it’s still there) friendly and reassuring.

The 'boro! Well well.

Don’t forget you can always sign up and if you’re not a fan of the workshop (or anything else) there’s that 14-day guarantee. Just drop me a note and I’ll refund you, no bother.

Welcome Keith  I am in Hampshire down South. The course is well worth the money and the effort that went into it - but I do understand our budgets can’t always stretch as far as we’d like. I have the LAS and you can pretty much fit everything into it. Whatever you decide to invest in, Johnny himself will always be here to help and we have a great busy friendly discord community.

Thanks, appreciate that, but am sure it wouldn’t come to that.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s good to know the workshop is worthwhile. TBH after all the reading I’ve done, both here and on the Discord, think I’m going to just bite the bullet and jump in
