No question here for anyone—I’m just sharing something I stumbled upon which I thought was interesting and relevant to this community. I was just watching Justin Sung’s video on studying for a master’s degree and one thing he mentions fairly early in the video is the importance of creating a mental schema, or a metaphorical book case into which the things you learn should go. It reminded me a lot about the JD system, particularly the importance of gathering information and thinking through the structure at the beginning of a JD system setup. It’s related to the concept of “chunking” information, which I think explains why having a decimal system for your stuff works so well. So I guess thanks go to Johnny Decimal for thinking up such a system and sharing it with the world!
