Malware warning

Hiya,

Newbie here, having just downloaded the LAS, using Bear on Mac.

Getting a potential malware warning. Am sure it’s a false positive, but interested to know if this is expected.

Interesting. You’re on Tahoe, obviously. What’s that green icon on each of the files?

I’ve not seen this before. I’m still on Sequoia myself. Would appreciate any Tahoe users giving this a go!

But it’s as plain a .zip file as it’s possible to be. It’s actually constructed on-the-fly from the site content by the download utility.

Hi,

On the latest macOS.

That green icon is just showing my default app for .md files (CotEditor). Actually, when I installed Bear, I changed the default app to that (Bear) for all .md files.

For some reason Finder didn’t reflect that in relation to the icons, even though Bear is opening when I select a file.

In relation to your files it’s only some of them that are being blocked, others not.

Odd. So did you manage to get them loaded, or is this warning from Apple a blocker?

FWIW, Apple seems to be a bit over-zealous these days.

Yesterday I tried to open an .mp4 in VLC so we could watch a show. Same warning: can’t verify this isn’t malware, won’t open.

I had to go to VLC and File > Open…, which worked.
