For years, I’ve been saying to my wife that we should have a place where we keep important info, where we can both access it. I’m thinking insurance and finance stuff, how-tos, that kind of thing. I actually used to refer to it as the “home manual”. We never got around to it.
I’m in the process of adopting JD at work, and I bought the Workbook, which means I got the LAS as well. I’ve consciously avoided LAS up to now, because I wanted to focus on sorting out my work system, but this evening curiosity got the better of me and I unzipped that folder.
Browsing through the LAS folders, it strikes me that the categories fall into, um, categories:
11 Me and other living thingsand14 My online lifeare very personal. Even as a couple, I think we’d want one each of these.12 Where I live and how I get aroundand15 Travel, events and entertainmentshould probably be shared, i.e one instance that we both use.13 Money earned, saved, owed and spentis a bit of both. We each have our own bank accounts and a shared one for bills, plus a shared mortgage.
Any guidance or best practice on how best to share an LAS instance, or partially share only the relevant bits? I’ll definitely end up running JD at home as well as at work, but I’m not sure if my wife will or not, so she might only engage with what I set up where it’s relevant for both of us.
On a practical level, I’m on Mac and she’s on Windows (neither of those are likely to change
). We’d need the shared bits to be somewhere we can both easily access it. I use Bear for note taking and will build my other areas in it as and when I set up a personal JD system.
