Emergency Plans - Where to store?

Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered. I searched but I couldn’t find anything on it. Where is a good place to store your emergency plans? For example, Hurricane Prep/Plans.

Thanks in Advance for any recommendations.

Hello!

Great question. Are we talking physical stuff, or electronic stuff?

In the life admin pack the closest place feels like:

10-19 Life admin
   12 🏡 Where I live & how I get around
      12.10 ■ Home records 📄
      12.15 My home's user manual

But I can see this specific thing deserving its own ID. There are a few spare in the 12.1_ range, so you could go with:

10-19 Life admin
   12 🏡 Where I live & how I get around
      12.10 ■ Home records 📄
      12.18 Emergency/evacuation plans

…or similar in a system you design yourself. To me this feels like it ‘belongs’ to the home, wherever you’ve got that.

12.18 Emergency/evacuation plans is a really good item, and I think it is useful not only for those living in hostile environments (Tokyo) but also for instance my kids’ school have published their own blackout readiness plans, and they could also be stored here.

I vote for this to be included in the next iteration of the pack

I like the 12.18 12.18 Emergency-Evacuation plans. I can’t use the “/” in the name. This is mostly for electronic plans, checklists, supply list, etc. Thanks so much!

A follow-up Question to @torbengb comment about the “next iteration of the pack.” When those occur, how do you update your pack on your computer? Do you just copy over and it adds the new stuff? Does the new pack ever change an existing ID name? If so, this would cause duplicates.

As long as the ID’s don’t change, it should be straightforward (and safe!) to just unpack the new version on top of whatever we already have.

That means we shouldn’t stray from the path, like moving all the 11.1x’s into 11.10, all the 11.2x’s into 11.20, and so on (not saying I just did exactly that, to not have 50 folders in “11”)

We’ll be very conscious not to ‘break’ the pack with future updates.

I can’t see a situation where an ID would fundamentally change. Its name might be tweaked, which you could either update or ignore. Or a new ID might be added, which you can just copy over.

I’ll run it past Lucy but I think 12.18 Emergency & evacuation plans makes a lot of sense as a permanent addition!
