This is not a solution but perhaps still useful: have you heard of [Paperless](https://docs.paperless-ngx.com/)?

> **Paperless-ngx** is a _community-supported_ open-source document management system that transforms your physical documents into a searchable online archive so you can keep, well, _less paper_.

You need to keep _some_ important paperwork in the original form but in reality, most of the time all you need is a PDF copy. So scan it and archive it, and then use Paperless if/when you ever need it.

Most other paperwork is even easier: scan it and throw it away! Then use your Paperless archive in case you ever need to look it up. That will be easier, too, because of full-text search, tags, and sorting.

All you need is a [good document scanner](https://www.amazon.com/Brother-Wireless-Compact-ADS-1700W-Professionals/dp/B07FRBFVDN/) and a computer to host your archive. [This blog post](https://torben.g-b.dk/2023/12/16/go-paperless.html) tells more, if you’re curious.
